Gallery closures

As part of the works on our exciting new capital project the Sammy Ofer Wing, the Rank & Style gallery, the Passengers gallery and the Nelson's Navy gallery have all now closed permanently.

Nelson's uniform can now be viewed as part of a new Nelson display in the Maritime London gallery. Our longer-term plans include a new gallery 'Nelson, the Navy and Nation', due to open in early 2013. To view the Museum’s Nelson online collections, features and fact files, visit www.nmm.ac.uk/nelson.

Museum playground

The Museum's outdoor play area has now permanently closed for construction work on the new wing. We know that the play area was popular with many visitors and apologise for the loss of this feature. Future plans include a new interactive gallery for younger children. The nearest playground is next to the boating pond in the Park.

Regatta restaurant

The Regatta restaurant has closed permanently as part of the works on the new wing. A new café The Galley is now open on the ground floor of the Museum, serving soups, salads and sandwiches as well as hot and cold beverages. The Paul patisserie will continue to be open as normal on the Upper Deck. See our Food & drink page.

Library access until 2012

There will be limited access to the Library until the opening of the new Library in 2012. See Visiting the Library for current opening hours. See Access to Archive and Library’s collections for details about the availability of different materials during this period.
