Medal commemorating Admiral Reinhard Scheer (1863-1928) and the Battle of Jutland, 1916. Obverse: Bust of Admiral Scheer in uniform (left). Legend: 'ADMIRAL SCHEER.' Reverse: A nude man in mid-air holding aloft a wreath in his right and a flag in his left hand, above, the imperial crown; battleships in action in the distance, shells falling in the water in foreground. Legend: 'NICHT DURCH ZUFALL, SONDERN TÜCHTIGKEIT.' (Not by chance but by ability.) Below: 'SKAGERRAK I . JUNI 1916.'
