While returning from Canada in 1835, the ‘Pique’ struck on some rocks near Point Forteau, Labrador, and ground away nearly all her false keel and much of her hull’s outer skin. Although she remained stuck for 11 hours and the heavy bumping resulted in her leaking badly, she managed to reach home unaided in spite of very bad weather.
