A starboard quarter view of the ‘Pique’ at anchor in Spithead with several small vessels in the vicinity.
The ‘Pique’ was one of the most successful ships designed by Sir William Symonds during his term of office as Surveyor of the Navy. In 1836, an Experimental Squadron was organised to test the sailing qualities of vessels designed by Symonds and Captain John Hayes. Coloured lithograph.
