An English flagship at anchor, possibly in June 1673

On the left is a port-bow view of a three-decker, possibly the ‘Royal Prince’, at anchor in a tideway with her sails furled and main yard aportlast (lowered to the gunwales), but with her spritsail set. She has a dark flag at the main and there is a galliot in the right foreground with other ships beyond.

This is one of seven similar drawings which probably belong to the period between the two battles of Schooneveld in 1673. The others are PAH1821, PAH1822, PAG6219, PAG6220, PAG6221 and PAF6876. This one has slight corrections only in ink.
