Second Class stateroom on the 'Olympic' (1911)

Cabin interior on the passenger liner 'Olympic' (1911) showing a stateroom in Second Class accommodation on the starboard side of the Upper Deck (E Deck); it is numbered E89. This is the inner cabin of a tandem arrangement; the narrow alleyway providing access to a porthole is in the far corner. The outer cabin of this pair appears in negative G10780.

The principle of the 'tandem cabin' originated in the design of accommodation on a vessel owned by the Bibby Steamship Co Ltd. For this reason the term 'Bibby cabin' was also used.
