Medal commemorating the landing of King Charles II at Dover, 1660. Obverse: Bust of King Charles II in a long wig, large cravat, with drapery over shoulders (right) within a laurel wreath. Legend (outer): 'CAROLUS II. D. G. MAGN : BRITANN : FRANC : ET. HIBERN : REX:' Legend (inner): 'DEUM . PROVIDENTIA . ATQ . MISERICORDIA . VIVO:'. (I live by the providence and the mercy of the gods). 'ANNO . RESERATAE . SALUTIS . 1660 . DIE . 29 . MAII.' (In the year of the restoration of the public weal). Reverse: Three warriors representing England, Scotland and Ireland holding the sceptre, sword and three crowns, standing on the shore (left), Dover Castle in the background, welcoming a three-masted ship (right); a star above; a budding oak tree growing from the deep below and the eye of Providence beaming from above. Legend: 'SI DEUS EST CUSTOS QUIS MEUS HOSTIS ERIT.' (If God is my keeper, who shall be my enemy?). Inscription (on ship's flag): 'IPSO FAVENTE COELO.' (Heaven itself is propitious). On Dover Castle's flag, 'PRAEDESTINATO.' (For the predestined one).
