Captain Edward Riou, 1762 - 1801

Rectangular miniature in a gilt metal presentation frame with a central suspension ring. The sitter is shown almost half-length turned to his right but looking to the viewer. He has brown eyes and greying hair, wears the captain's full-dress of 1795-1812 [?] a white waistcoat and neckcloth, and is shown against a greenish almost architectural background, with a hint of shadowed wall to the right and an arch (or false oval) above his head.
