Vase
Vase commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), in dark blue jasper with white applied reliefs. The vase has a frilled top and spreading base. On one side is a uniformed figure of a naval officer holding a speaking trumpet, with a missing right arm, intended to represent Nelson. There is a gun, anchor and flag behind him. On the other side of the vase is a female mourning figure garlanding a monument surmounted by an urn, military trophies at its base. The vase has acanthus leaves at the sides and formal floral motifs around the top and the base. AAA5055 and AAA5056 are a pair.
