Table clock

This magnificent example of the Renaissance clockmaker's art is reputed to have once belonged to Casimir II of Poland. The highly-decorated gilt-brass case contains a spring-driven clockwork mechanism of 30-hour duration which, in addition to telling the time and date, has complex gearing to provide over forty different indications. The main astrolabic dial shows relative lunar, solar and stellar positions for any given date. Although signed by Buschman, the clock is believed to have been made by Johann Reinhold of Augsburg.
