Portrait of the 'Katherine'?

A starboard-bow view of what may be the ‘Katherine’, 8-gun yacht, built 1674, rebuilt 1720. There are nine wreathed ports on a broadside, the three ports in the waist having guns. This is probably one of the larch yachts built after circa 1670, and may be the ‘Cleveland’ (1671), ‘Katherine’ (1674) or ‘Henrietta’ (1679). The disposition of the ports seems to agree with that of the ‘Katherine’ as shown from the quarter in a drawing of 1677 in the Boymans Museum, Rotterdam (167).

Offset, lightly rubbed on the back.

This drawing was probably made in connection with pictures of the journey of William of Orange and Princess Mary to Holland in 1677. Approximately dated by the subject and watermark.
