Portrait of the 'Royal Sovereign'
This is a portrait of the ‘Royal Sovereign’ built in 1637 for Charles I as the ‘Sovereign of the Seas’ and which is included in Peter Lely’s portrait of Peter Pett (BHC2949). However she had been rebuilt in 1659, and was to be again in 1685. The drawing is probably an offset.
